Wilderness First Aid Certification & Community Service Learning
Wilderness First Aid: 38,495 THB ($1,242 USD)
Start Date: July 17 and July 24, 2020
Day 1 : Start Your Journey in Nothen Thailand
Meet ETT staff at the Chiang Mai Airport. Once we have the group together we will head to Mae Sariang. The drive is about 3 hours through a beautiful mountain landscape. Once we arrive at the hotel you can freshen up, and we will have an orientation. You will get to know your group members, play some ice-breaking games, get dinner, and then get some rest.
Overnight: Hotel in Mae Sariang
Day 2-4 : Wilderness First Aid Certification
Grab breakfast at the hotel and then meet your Wilderness First Aid teacher. You will take the class together as a team and time is split between classroom learning and hands-on simulations. You will learn how to apply first aid, give CPR, and how to manage injuries in a wilderness context. This basic medical knowledge is useful if you are pursuing a medical degree, spend a lot of time outdoors, or are curious about how the human body works and want to know how to manage and heal injuries. The class will take up the bulk of the day, but in the afternoon you can swim, journal, get to know your new friends, or relax in your room. In the evening, ETT staff will organize group activities at the hotel and in town.
Day 5 : Putting Your Skills to Work
Head deeper into the mountain to a hill tribe village and apply the knowledge you have just recently gained. Depending on the needs of the community, we will perform health checks for local residents, and also have an informational session teaching locals how to treat basic cuts, wounds, and injuries.
Day 6 : Back to Chiang Mai
Return to Chiang Mai and take the opportunity to tour the beautiful and historic city. We will see some of the “must-see” sites like Wat Phra That Doi Suthep and the Old City Gates. This evening we will head to the Night Bazaar for some last-minute souvenirs and then head to bed.
Day 7 : Head Home
Say goodbye to Northern Thailand and your staff and fellow group members. You will be heading out to the airport and departing based on your own scheduled flight.
