Day 1 : Arrive in Southern Thailand

Arrive in Phuket and meet your program leaders and fellow student travellers before heading to nearby Nai Yang Beach for group games on the beach and an orientation to the week ahead. 

Overnight: Hotel in Phuket 

Day 2 : Khao sok national Park

Drive to Khao Sok National Park, home to one of the world’s oldest rainforests. Tube down the Khao Sok river to see the jungle from the perspective of the meandering river that supports the vast diversity of the park. Have a bonfire and a night hike to witness the incredible sounds array of nocturnal life that comes alive when the sun goes down.

Day 3 : Elephants and Organic Farming

Head to a nearby organic farm to learn the intricacies of sustainable farming practices. Help out on the farm and collect vegetables to prepare your delicious and healthy lunch! In the afternoon visit a local elephant sanctuary for a look at the importance of elephants in history and as a keystone species in the ecosystem.

Day 4 : Explore Cheow Lan Lake

Drive to nearby Cheow Lan Lake for a day exploring by boat this massive reservoir and the many canyons, caves and lookouts that line the water’s edge. Swim in the aquamarine water and head back to Khao Sok in the evening for dinner and nighttime activities.

Day 5 : Reforestation in Krabi Province

Drive to Krabi Province and stop along the way at a tropical reforestation site set up by the Chiang Mai University Forest Restoration REsearch Unit. Spend the day working with this dedicated group of ecologists, helping grow native tree species with seedling and nursery work in the nursery before heading into reforested plots near the Emerald Pool. Finish the day with a dip in the Emerald Pool and then drive to Ao Nang beach to spend the night.

Day 6 : Snorkel Expedition

Spend the day on a snorkel expedition to off shore Islands off of Krabi. Learn about the coral reefs, the many different types of organisms that call it home and how they are important to the entire Ocean ecosystems in general, as you plunge into the water with your snorkel and explore the reefs firsthand. Finish up the evening with a seafood dinner and group activities on your last night in Southern Thailand.

Day 7 : Farewell

After a week exploring the ecosystem of Southern Thailand it will be time to say goodbye to your program leaders and colleagues and head to the airport for your flight home.
